A Long Winter's Nap

" What is a kerchief and Who wears a cap? while I settle down for my long winter's nap... When by the TV there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the couch to see what was the matter. Away to the bathroom I flew like a flash, tore open the door and saw my mustache ???"

"NNOOOAAAHHHH !!"

JOY is Noah's teasings.

Noah's Parent Teacher Conference

JOY is meeting with Noah's School Teacher. What a great report Noah had! We set a few goals for the upcoming term and my effort is needed. In the school hallways were all the Reflection's Projects. Noah's Photo was nicely displayed with a red ribbon on it. I inquired as to what that meant. The woman said that it stood for "The Principal's Pick." I was so proud of him and he seemed ecstatic to think that his Principal selected his picture.

JOY was continuing a tradition...Wok King after the Conference. Noah was also feeling sick just like last year.

Reflections: Diversity Means...

JOY was appreciating Noah's photographs depicting 2011-2012 Reflections Theme, "Diversity Means..." Not an easy theme for a young child to understand let alone capture in a work of art. Here are the few ideas Noah decided upon...now we just need to select the one he enters.

*The books: Diversity means adventure, knowledge, imagination, discovery and choice.

*The photo of Noah: Diversity means being able to see the variety of colors the world has to offer.

*The collage: Diversity means delicious, sweet, adventure, knowledge, imagination, creativity, discovery, choice, and the ability to see the variety of colors the world has to offer.

Having a "HEELIE" Good Time

Noah had a few hard days which took it's toll on me. Rewarding him was the last thing I wanted to do. He has been asking for those shoes with wheels on them...heelies. I continued to say no, that is until I saw that everyone had brand new "back to school shoes." After school, I took him for "back to school shoes." I made it clear that these shoes had nothing to do with his unacceptable behavior...rather, everyone needs new shoes when a new school year starts. JOY was watching him select just the right pair of shoes...even the employee said that he picked out shoes that matched his personality. He was grinning from ear to ear and I knew that he was experiencing JOY. I cannot begin to write how happy that made me. (Heelies are not as easy as they look...Noah would need to practice.)

Biking Buddy

Noah missed the first five days of school to illness. Now he is in the habit of staying home. A friend called and asked if it would be okay with Noah to accompany her son to school on bikes. That was just the motivation I needed to get him out of bed. Today was his first real day of third grade...Go Noah!!! JOY is knowing your son has good friends and just when you need the help, it comes.

First Day of School

Noah has been fighting a fever of 101 degrees. At 8:00 am, his fever broke...just in time for the first day of third grade. He had to hustle and was 15 minutes late. JOY is that he was well enough to go. His cough and fever returned and so his first day of school was cut short. He brought home a packet of forms to be filled out and returned. I love to fill out forms!!!

Seek and Find

June 28, 2011
I lost my keys three times on June 22, 2011 and also locked them in my car when I went to check on Noah at Pack Meeting.

The JOY was finding my keys all three times and miraculously finding the extra set in one of the numerous boxes.....Even more JOY was watching Noah and the Scouts ride through the bicycle obstacle course. I wish I had captured that moment on camera...but it was in my locked car.

Just Face It

There is always one more thing to do. When one item is checked off, three more appear. Noah wanted to go to get an ice cream snickers. We were in the car when I noticed something needed to be put away. While putting that away, I found a few other projects to complete quickly. Noah patiently waited until he could bear it no more. I saw him walk in the backyard backwards and that got my attention. When he turned around...I realized his boredom and sense of humor. It sure put a smile on my face. I was able to stop the projects and took him to the Maverick for his treat.

Scout Camp

I found great JOY in dropping Noah off at the Church for his first offical Scout Camp. I can hardly wait to hear the details. Today was "Camp Jurassic" and tomorrow, "Camp Superheros."

Boy Oh Boy JOY

Noah's bedroom is now complete. Whether or not it would be used is the question. My little family has been late night couch potatoes. There was some hesitation at first, but he slept there the whole night and actually liked it. He keeps talking to me about "his room," and that put a smile on my face.

Noah was asked to give a talk in Primary. My little boy won't even go up to the front with the other children to sing a Primary Song. He had agreed to do it and I had agreed to help. Saturday Night, the thought surfaces, "Noah has a talk to give tomorrow!" I mentioned it to Noah and his big brown eyes got even bigger. He grabbed one of Rick's legal pads and proceeded to write his talk...all by himself!!! He seemed please as was I. JOY was going into the Primary Room and seeing your boy stand at the microphone and give a talk that he had prepared on his own.
